Wash water and storm drains

Where the water goes after a wash matters, too.

  • Storm drains are for rain

Cherry Hill bans putting anything but stormwater into its storm drains.

  • Plain wash water is allowed

Driveway, sidewalk and street wash water is one of the listed exceptions.

  • Soap is another story

NJDEP warns that soapy wash water on pavement runs into storm drains and on to local waterways.
